You want to buy a pair of cheap skinny jeans from Levi’s and if so, then, in our opinion, you are well on the right track. Basically, if we were to take only the category of goods that can be considered as “cheap” (under $50, usually) then the following more brands come to our mind – Zara, Topman, Guess, Levi’s, Collins and some others, but Levi’s beat them all, in our opinion.
The company started in 1853 when a Bavarian man named Levi Strauss opened a wholesale dry goods store in San Francisco along with his cousin. While the further details are a bit complicated, the gist of the events following 1853 was that one day Levi Strauss was accosted by one of his regular clients, a tailor, whose name was Jacob Davis, and they together patented the technology of using the rivets to reinforce the jeans. You know how well the Levi’s brand prospered after that,(well, Levi Strauss company did suffer from crisis moments, but it did manage to overcome them pretty well) and the brand still holds its strong spot as a leader in the industry of low-to-moderately priced denim jeans (they also have premium level jeans that cost 500 dollars and more, by the way).
The reason why a lot of people like the Levi’s brand is that their jeans are almost always of great quality, and , also, a lot of people have fallen in love with their “worker style” jeans and apparel (although the latter is more of a matter of a personal taste). We do want to say that the quality corresponds pretty closely to the price tag of the jeans, as in – don’t expect Armani level of quality when buying the jeans for 20 bucks. Keep your expectations on the appropriate horizons when buying the cheap skinny jeans from Levi’s or you will end up getting disappointed. They are better than cheap jeans from other brands on average, however, and that’s why we recommend them.
Their higher priced jeans are much better and durable, of course, and the 200 bucks Levi Strauss jeans can last for 3 years as minimum (2, if you are very careless with them). If you really want to, you can browse the special catalogues of their vintage jeans that cost 200 hundred dollars on average. However, the most expensive Levi’s jeans are definitely much more expensive than that – it is known that Levi’s had a pair of their own jeans (antique style) on e-bay which was sold to a Japanese collector for 60 000 dollars. Of course, it doesn’t beat the Guinness records, as there are jeans that were sold at 250 000 dollars even, but the very fact that these crazy transactions occur is pretty fascinating. Oh, and if you had a chance to touch these VIP level premium class jeans (and we did on one of the fashion expositions in Moscow, Russia) you would understand why they cost so much – a true work of an artist.
There is a lot of history and traditions behind the brand of Levi Strauss, if you are interested in them. For example, they say that, according to the traditions, the real Levi Strauss jeans have a red thread sewed into them, and if you see a pair of Levi’s jeans that lack those threads, then they are very likely to be fake. The jeans were also very popular with worker classes, and a lot of people wore them with non slip shoes, steel toe shoes and other industrial models of footwear, but, of course, that was in the past and most people nowadays like to wear them either with dress shoes and sneakers (unisex) or high heels (women with bodies that suit that style).
