It’s best to stick with a name brand manufacture like REI, The North Face, Kelty, or L.L. Bean. Not only will you get the highest quality bag, the warranty is so good that it’s almost unbelievable. Both REI and L.L. Bean offer lifetime warranties. Choose a temperature rating that is warmer than you actually need because I have found that those ratings are usually for survival only and have nothing to do with comfort. If your family goes on frequent camping trips and you like the option of sleeping solo at times, then two sleeping bags that mate together is a better option. On the other hand, if you do not go camping often, and plan to only use the bag for two people, then purchase a double wide sleeping bag. This way you you will never have to fuss with zipping sleeping bags together.
For added comfort to your sleeping bag, a fleece sleeping bag liner will make you feel like you are sleeping in pajamas. Think long term when buying sleeping bags and never settle for the cheap big box type. Pay a little extra money to ensure that your sleep will be comfortable.
